Beat of His Drum

Known as one of the two “rhythm devils,” Mickey Hart started his career as a drummer in Grateful Dead. Hart left the band in 1971, due to conflicts with the band’s manager. During his time away from the band he recorded the album Rolling Thunder. He returned to the band in 1974, but after the death of lead guitarist Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead separated in 1995.

Before the dissolution of the band, Hart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. Hart teamed up with former band mate Bill Kreutzmann and together they formed Rhythm Devils, but that didn’t last long. Soon after the Rhythm Devils, Hart set out on his next venture. The Mickey Hart Band kicked off their first tour in summer of 2008.

Hart continues to produce music with Kreutzmann and pushed himself to evolve as an artist. He has gone from selling drums and musical instruments with his father in San Carlos, California to performing music internationally. Hart will be continuing touring with the band with Tea Leaf Green this summer.
On Friday, August 17, Hart will be gracing the stage of the Paramount. This is a concert you don’t want to miss. Tickets are still on sale. To purchase tickets stop by the box office or purchase tickets through TicketMaster.
