12 Reasons Why It's the Best Time of The Year at The Paramount!

Parents may not be looking forward to it, but their kids sure are…

1) It’s winter break! Children tend to get cabin fever after a few days in the house, but with the next few things on this list I’m sure we can find something to keep them occupied.

2) Jones Beach is reopening their light show after going dark for seven years. The lights will start shinning on Thursday, November 20th and run until Sunday, January 4th. The show makes for a perfect family outing; not only with the lights be glowing, but the children’s faces will be too.

3) The Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, NYC has become a “must see” for tourists who visit the city in the cold yet breathtaking winter months. If the hassle of traveling to the city or bourdon of the slow moving crowds is not appealing, come to Huntington and visit the gorgeous tree on Wall Street. The tree ceremony will taking place on November 30th.

4) Eggnog, hot chocolate and ginger lattes are just some of the delicious holiday drinks, but it’s the seasonal beer that we really enjoy. We are looking forward to partnering up with local brewer- Blue Point Brewery this winter who will be bringing us their freshest Winter Ale.  Make sure to ask us about our other seasonal beers like Magic Hat’s Snow Roller and more!

5) Tis’ the season of giving, so give a gift that rocks! Paramount gift card are the perfect gift for all ages; they can be redeemed for tickets, venue merchandise, food and drinks. Purchase a gift card at the box office open daily from 12 pm- 6 pm or order them online (shipping & handling fees apply).

6) We are strong believers of giving back to our community and the holidays remind us of why we love it. The Paramount donates tickets to upcoming shows to charities, small businesses and local organizations. Contact us at hitusup@paramountny.com to find out how we can donate tickets to your next event.  Not only do we give back, but we encourage our fans to give too; that’s why Buckcherry general admission tickets are only $10 after donating a toy at the box office.

7) We don’t have to fight for our right to party here! The Paramount is the perfect place to host an extravagant private holiday party. We guarantee to make mere visions into a reality and have guests mesmerized by the transformation. For more information contact Kimberly Ciaravino, Chief Event Architect, at Kimberly@paramountny.com or by phone at 631-673-7300 ext. 308 and make sure to check out the Special Events page on our website.

8) December is packed with shows and each day we are adding more! Christina Perri on 12/10, Gavin DeGraw on 12/11 and Daughtry on 12/14 are great shows for all ages. Tickets are still available to these shows and many more; keep checking our calendar for newly added shows!

9) Black Friday starts the season off right with lots of sales on everything from pots and pans to boots and bags. Who doesn’t love a good sale? That’s why we are running discounts on tickets throughout November and December. Signup for our FREE online newsletter to get updates on all of the discounts we’re offering. Discounts available include Buy One, Get One Free to Ace Frehley, Chevelle, and Rusted Root along with Buy 3 Get 1 Free for Flogging Molly!

10) Not everyone likes a silent night, I for one, love holiday music like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” and Adam Sandler’s “The Hanukkah Song.” Chris Isaak would agree with me because he will be performing his Holiday Tour 2014 at The Paramount on 12/18, tickets are still available!

11) End 2014 & start 2015 off right with Dark Star Orchestra on December 30th and again on New Year's Eve; double the nights, double the chances to get a kiss at midnight…maybe even a date in 2015, if the cards are played right. Otherwise you may be coming stag to The Misfits' St. Valentine's Day Massacre on 2/13.

12) Speaking of New Year’s…don’t forget to make a New Year’s resolution! If signing up for a gym membership never works out (no pun intended) why not choose something that will stick? Make the resolution to come to more concerts at The Paramount. Our show calendar next year is filling up quick, stay updated on all new show announcements and presale codes by signing up for our FREE newsletter.

Long Island, Get Ready to be SPANK!'d

The highly anticipated film based on a New York Times #1 bestselling trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey, will be hitting the cinemas in February 2015. The book focuses around literary student, Anastasia Steele, when she goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey; she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.
Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires (James, 2011).
In the meantime audiences can look forward to the stage version, SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody this November. ..

The Paramount is All about That Bass

Fifth Harmony will be performing live at The Paramount on September 23rd with special guest Meghan Trainor, presented by 106.1 WBLI radio station. Meghan Trainer, whose debut single “All About That Bass” has skyrocketed to the top of the charts. Since it’s impossible to turn on the radio without hearing her hit single, we’ve compiled a few facts about the songstress that have us saying, “We’re all about that bass!”
  • Trainor is from Cape-Cod, Massachusetts. She fell in love with music early, thanks in big part to her dad… a former music teacher.
  • By the age of 17, the 20-year-old had penned tracks for country superstars. While living in Nashville, she wrote “I like the Sound of That” and “DJ Tonight” for the Rascal Flatts.
  • She is a multi-instrumentalist. Trainor plays the guitar, ukulele, keyboards, trumpet and percussion. Meghan is a team player. She played football for her local Boys & Girls Club team for three years and was the only girl on the team.
  • Trainor finds inspiration from The Queen Bee. Meghan told Radio.com, “I watch Beyoncé videos every day with my friend at home. That's the one performer I study a lot.” The first time Meghan danced in front of people was for her “All About That Bass” music video shoot.
  • Just like Fifth Harmony, Meghan’s lyrics serve as anthems for young girls. “All About That Bass” is a playful but unapologetic self-empowerment mantra for women who don’t fit the standard beauty ideal.
Meghan will be releasing her debut album that blends her intense flair, throwback hip-hop, classic pop, and beat-heavy Caribbean music into a flawless combination. As fans await the release of Meghan’s album, they can listen to an exclusive sneak peek at some of the tracks at The Paramount on September 23rd. Tickets are available now for purchase through Ticketmaster.com, charge-by-phone @ 800-745-3000 or The Paramount Box Office (open daily from 12 noon - 6 pm).

The Paramount Keeps it Real with Carly Aquilino

Carly Aquilino, from the MTV hit series Girl Code will be coming to The Paramount on September 26th. Carly, originally from Commack, N.Y., has been described by audience members as “funny” and by her father as “a huge mistake” but one thing is for sure, she gives great advice on the sisterhood that all women share.

When you are looking for a potential roommate, be prepared with questions.

If you don’t know how to bond with your dad and sports aren't your thing.

Having a bad hair day? Don’t cover it up with a fedora.

Beer before liquor will make you sicker; liquor before beer you’re in the clear, right?

And if you had too many to drink, apologize in the morning because 90% of the time it won’t make sense.

You don't have to trust EVERYONE.

Sometimes going to a house party is way better than hosting one.

Always use birth control.

Girls might be just as disgusting as guys, but at least we can cover it up.

Carly Aquilino keeps it real 100% of the time, so see her live on September 26th, tickets are still available!

On August 18, Jake Miller will return to Huntington and it’s sure to be mayhem.

Throughout Jake’s high school career he posted online videos and instantly became a Youtube sensation. He currently has over 100,000 followers on Facebook and over 70,000 Twitter followers.

The Paramount Presents Hip-Hop’s Finest: Kid Ink

Hip-hop impresario, Kid Ink with special guest Bizzy Crook, will be performing at The Paramount on August 10th at 8 pm. Kid Ink cruises past all boundaries; blurring the lines between rapper, producer, and performer. Kid Ink seamlessly creates irresistible hooks that transform into impeccable verses. His highly anticipated tour comes off the heels of his first full-length debut, My Own Lane.

At the age of 16, Kid Ink discovered his natural knack for producing; his personal style behind the board earned him the chance to collaborate with hip-hop heavy weights like Sean “Diddy” Combs and Sean Kingston. That experience in the studio set the stage for him to become the versatile and vibrate force he is today.

Kid Ink burst onto the music scene in 2012 with his independent album, Up & Away, which spawned his mainstream breakthrough song “Time of Your Life.” The album debuted in the Top 5 of the Hip-Hop Albums chart prior to the release on iTunes and landed at #20 on the Billboard Top 200. However, it wasn't until his latest album, My Own Lane, was released when he gained the recognition he deserved and desired.

My Own Lane’s hit single “Show Me” featuring Chris Brown skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard’s Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop Songs and Rap Song charts. The single helped garner Kid Ink to a spot on Shazam’s “2014 New Artist to Watch List.” Kid Ink has caught the attention of audiences worldwide as MTV International has chosen Kid Ink as their first PUSH campaign artist of 2014. Make plans to visit the Paramount to eat, drink, and enjoy the music of up and coming artists like Kid Ink. So when they make it big, Long Islanders can say they saw them first… at The Paramount.

Tickets for Kid Ink will go on sale now through Ticketmaster.com, charge-by-phone @ 800-745-3000 or The Paramount Box Office (open daily from 12 noon - 6 pm). To receive future pre-sale codes and event news for The Paramount, sign up on our website for our FREE e-newsletter today.

Way Back Wednesday: Jesse McCartney

You probably know him from the hit TV series Summerland, starring Aunt Becky from Full House…aka Lori Loughlin. You may even know him from his 2004 debut single, “Beautiful Soul,” which reached #3 on the Mediabase Top 40 Radio chart or his multi-platinum single, “Leavin,” which became the #1 most played song of 2008 at Top 40 Radio.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, we’re talking about award-winning singer, songwriter and actor Jesse McCartney, who will be coming to Huntington on August 16th! Jesse’s new tour comes on the heels of his highly anticipated album In Technicolor on Eight0Eight Records set to release on July 22nd- featuring the first single “Superbad.” Jesse McCartney has proven that he isn't just another one-hit-wonder. In fact, last year while touring with the Backstreet Boys he stopped by The Today Show and premiered his EP, In Technicolor Part I, including the single “Back Together.”

In Technicolor is strongly influenced by music icons such as Michael Jackson and Prince “…that’s what I have always gravitated towards,” McCartney said. “The pivotal moment when I was writing with Hot Chelle Rae for their album; we wrote a song that - somewhat accidentally - nailed a sound I was searching for, for myself.  It was retro; it was contemporary. I envisioned real horns, real instruments. The song “Back Together,” became the template for this album.”

Tickets for Jesse McCartney at The Paramount on August 16th are available now for purchase through Ticketmaster.com, charge-by-phone @ 800-745-3000 or The Paramount Box Office (open daily from 12 noon - 6 pm). The Paramount Has a Gift for Every Type of Dad!

Father’s Day is only a couple of days away and let’s face it… shopping for dad is a lot harder than picking out a gift for mom. For those of us who don’t have “Mr. Fix It” as a dad, a Home Depot gift card isn't going to cut it…but concert tickets definitely will! Picking out the perfect show for your type of dad can be tricky; that’s why we created a guideline to help.

Pranksters. For the dads who take life a little too lightly and enjoy a good laugh…mostly at your expense, treat them to tickets to a comedy show like Dana Carvey, Bill Cosby or Kathleen Madigan.

Car Collectors & Bikers. If your dad believes the perfect Sunday morning includes going down to Captree to show off his car(s) or taking his Harley out for a spin, consider getting him a pair of tickets to The Bang Your Head Tour with Quiet Riot...

Movie Lover. Does your dad make watching movies extremely difficult because he’s seen almost every movie out on Netflix…multiple times? Well then Chazz Palminteri's - A Bronx Tale or Jeff Bridges and The Abiders is perfect for him!

Sports Fanatic. For the dads who love all things sports, Joe Deguardia's Star Boxing events are the perfect gift. Purchase tickets to the next live boxing match set for July 18th!

Mr. Conservative. He’s the dad who believes that nothing good happens after 10 pm, but if you send him to Ted Nugent or Dennis Miller, he might just have a change of heart and you just might receive a later curfew...

Music Aficionado. If your dad’s playlist consists of artists from Andrea Bocelli to ZZ Top, then he would enjoy Pat Benatar on 8/30 or Ian Anderson playing the best of Jethro Tull on 11/8.

Spiritually Inclined. Do your Sunday nights include watching Long Island Medium on TLC with your dad? Well then bond over John Edwards in September! He may not have long manicured nails and big bleach-blond hair, but he is the OG of mediums.

Southern Gentleman. He loves his country, his family and a good hoedown! So treat your dad to a night of line dancing and beer at Trace Adkins on 8/1 or Blackberry Smoke concert on 8/7.

Rocker. He was the coolest guy in the 80’s with his long hair, colorful jumpsuits and a boom box in hand…now he’s the coolest dad, who doesn't care how loud the music is blasting from your room. So taking him to see Clutch on 9/27 or a Social Distortion concert on 9/5 only makes sense.

A pair of tickets to one of our upcoming shows is the perfect Father’s Day gift, but if your dad is Mr. Picky don’t sweat it! We have gift cards for sale which can be redeemed for food, drinks, venue merchandise and tickets.  We are also adding new shows weekly, so you don’t have to commit; wait for the perfect show!

Way Back Wednesday: O-Town

The Paramount present early-00’s boy band “O-Town” for a one night event on November 5th at 8 pm. Last March, O-Town announced their plans to reunite a decade after breaking up. Although Ashley Parker Angel is not part of the reunited group, original members; Erik Michael Estrada, Jacob Underwood, Dan Miller, and Trevor Penick have become a powerful foursome.

“We started this reunion purely for the fun of it,” O-Town's Jacob Underwood said last March. “We had discussed a summer tour to perform our old songs and finally give the fans what they’ve been asking us for the last 10 years. However, once we began working, what developed was something a little more ambitious. The ideas kept flying and we couldn’t help but start making new music.”

O-Town’s self-titled album spawned two Top 10 Hits, “Liquid Dreams” and “All or Nothing,” which has sold 1.7 million copies to date. After a decade apart, the foursome has finally followed up their 2001 self-titled album with O2. “We are blessed to be able to apply what we’ve learned to create something stimulating and beautiful, that we can call our own,” said Underwood. “This isn’t just a reunion for us, it’s a new beginning.” The Paramount is pleased to welcome back the boys to the stage after a decade of radio silence. O-Town hopes to recapture the magic they once had, while giving Long Island “All or Nothing.”

Tickets for O-Town are available now for purchase through Ticketmaster.com, charge-by-phone @ 800-745-3000 or The Paramount Box Office (open daily from 12 noon - 6 pm). For more information on upcoming shows "like" us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and sign up for our FREE online newsletter.

One Love, One Life and a Long Legacy

May 11th will mark the 33rd anniversary of the short lived life of Bob Marley. While he had many triumphs during his life, it wasn’t until years after his passing that he earned; a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame, was named Time Magazine’s Best Album of the Century, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with other accolades. In honor of Bob Marley, we are sharing some of the lesser known facts about his life.
  1. Bob’s father was a 50-year-old white British naval captain named Norval Sinclair Marley.
  2. 21-year old Robert Nesta Marley and 19-year old Alfarita “Rita” Constantia Anderson are married in Trench Town, Jamaica. Rita was part of the I-Threes, who sang back up for the Wailers.
  3. After his wedding Bob Marley moved to Delaware to work and save money for his new family and for his hopeful music business.
  4. His official website states that Bob fathered eleven children with several other women while he was married.
  5. As Bob Marley and The Wailers rehearsed at his Kingston home, an unsuccessful assassination attempt was made on his life. Miraculously, no one was killed; Bob escaped with minor gunshot wounds, Rita underwent surgery to remove a bullet that grazed her head. Bob’s manager, Don Taylor, was shot five times and critically wounded; he was airlifted to Miami’s Cedars of Lebanon Hospital for the removal of a bullet lodged against his spinal cord.
  6. The One Love Peace Concert is held at The National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. During Jamming, Marley joins the hands of political rivals Michael Manley (PNP) and Edward Seaga (JLP) in an unforgettable and historic moment.
  7. In 1976 Rolling Stone Magazine named Bob Marely and The Wailers “Band of the Year”
  8. A 1977 football injury led doctors to discover a malignant melanoma in Marley’s toe. They recommended amputation, but he refused. The tumor then spread, which ultimately caused his death.
  9. The Jamaican Government recognizes Bob’s birthday on February 6th
  10. The Wailers will be coming to The Paramount on May 23rd. Original members of The Wailers included Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, and Barrett Brothers, Carlton and Aston. Today Aston leads the band as it continues to promote peace, love and equality through music.

Bob Marley was an advocate for social change and used the power of music to bring people together while freeing them from their problems. His music is timeless and lives on long after his passing for it is he who said, “Live for yourself and you will live in vain. Live for others, and you will live again.”
