Flash Back Friday

We are taking a look back for #flashbackfriday and digging through all the old pictures. We found pictures from Karmin’s video set, The Wanted’s last performance here at The Paramount, Mr. Lauryn Hill back in the day, Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas, and where Emblem 3 first began.

Karmin’s Amy Heidmann was getting styled for their “Brokenhearted” video shoot back in 2012. Karmin has had numerous hits such as “Acapella,” and “Hello” as well as making live appearances on television shows and concerts. This past April they released their latest studio album Pulses and Long Island will be able to experience Karmin in an intimate setting like never before.

We are bringing it back to 2012 at The Paramount when The Wanted performed. Two years later they are back and ready to rock the stage for one last time. Yesterday the band announced that they will break up after their tour and go onto do separate projects. Tickets for the wanted are still available hurry up and get your tickets before they sell out.

Ms. Lauryn Hill was in the Fugees back in the day and they are best known for their song “Killing Me Softly.” After the group broke up in 1997, Ms. Hill went on to record a solo album featuring artists like Mary J. Blige and John Legend. Next week she will be performing live for one night only tickets for her show are still on sale now.

Matchbox Twenty won a People’s Choice Award back in 2004 and lead vocalist, Rob Thomas, was there to except the award. Matchbox Twenty is best known for their hits such as “3am,” “She’s so Mean,” and “Unwell.” On May 5th Rob Thomas will be performing a sold out concert right here in downtown Huntington.

This last picture is of the newest boy band Emblem 3 when they were first discovered on X-Factor. The Judged fell in love with the three boys and now they have been selling out arenas around the world including The Paramount. On February 26th girls will line up along New York Ave just to get close enough to the stage to be an arm’s length away.

Wanted Wednesdays

In case you’ve missed it The Wanted called it quits late last week. According to the Los Angeles Times, The Wanted have released a statement saying, “This tour will be their last for a while as Tom, Max, Jay, Siva and Nathan have collectively decided to take time to pursue personal endeavours following the tour's conclusion.” The Wanted stopped by The Paramount in March 2012 before they broke out into stars and now they are back again for their final tour. Tickets are still available now at the box office (open daily from 12pm to 6pm) or visit Ticketmaster online or purchase tickets over the phone.

The Wanted are incredibly talented and have become the most widely known boy band since ‘N Sync. They are one of Britain’s biggest and most brilliant pop bands; The Wanted are no competition for bands like One Direction. The boy band has numerous accolades including two number one singles, over 30 million views on YouTube, and they sold 400,000 copies of their explosive debut album.
After news of the breakup became known, devastated fans reached out to the boys on social media, Max George sent out a series of tweets to his fans that read:

“Hey guys, so I know the news today was a big thing, but let me tell you this is not the END," he tweeted, adding, "It's the right time for myself and the other boys to have some time to try and achieve other things in our lives and careers ... I can't wait to see everyone who has come to see us on all of our tours in march ... And I hope I see you all with me in my own ventures ... I love you all very much, and I will say it again, this is NOT the END. #TWFanmilyaFamilyForever xxx ... As @TomTheWanted ... You ain't getting rid of us that easily.”

Before their wildly famous albums and thousands of Facebook and Twitter followers, they began their rise to fame with a concert at The Paramount. We are very proud to bring The Wanted back to Huntington, Long Island so fans will be able to experience the pop sensation, without having the burden of traveling into NYC. Although we are sad to see them go, we are glad they came.

Laughter is The Best Medicine

Everyone needs a good laugh once in a while so why not have one here?  We have hosted many comedy nights staring A-list comedians such as Gabriel Iglesias, Dana Carvey and just this past weekend Sandra Bernhard, best known for the role of Nancy Bartlett on the hit sitcom Roseanne. This year we are continuing to have the best in the business stop by down-town Huntington.

Named one of Comedy Central's "100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time," Jim Breuer is one of the most recognizable comedians in the business, known for his charismatic stage antics, dead-on impressions, and family- friendly stand-up. He has been a cast member of SNL and has stared in the movie Half Baked. Jim Breuer will be performing two shows on 3/8 the first show will begin at 8pm followed by the second show at 11pm, tickets are still available.

Rob Schneider is a veteran on SNL, has starred in hit movies such as Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, The Hot Chicks, and Grown-Ups. He has performed alongside Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Chris Farley, but on 3/15 he will be performing his dangerously funny set solo for one intimate night.

Rounding off the A-list comedians and continuing the laughs for the month of March is Ralphie May. He had America rolling on their living room floors with laughter when he was on the first season of Last Comic Standing and has filmed a record-setting three separate 1-hour Comedy Central Specials in the past three consecutive years, all of which were among the networks most highly-rated. On 3/27 you will be able to experience him live on Long Island.

Not only have we become one of the most premier music venues on Long Island within two years of opening our doors, but we are continuing to bring in different genres of entertainment including music, comedy, boxing, and community and other special events. Are You the Next YouTube Sensation?

Whether you are bored at work, waiting for class to start, or can’t fall asleep you always manage to end up on YouTube. It’s the number one video-sharing website with more than one million monthly visitors and 100 hours of video being uploaded every minute. Most of the time you end up watching videos like “What Does the Fox Say,” Miley’s “Wrecking Ball” video, or trying to figure out what song was in that commercial, but every once in a while you accidently come across incredible talent. I scoured the web to find YouTube sensations across the world and narrowed down the videos to these 14 talented people:

Chloe and Halle Bailey have over 10 million views on YouTube, performed on the "Ellen" Show twice, and have acted in movies and TV with actors such Queen Latifah, Tyler Perry, and Beyoncé. They have recently been named Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing and at only 14 and 12 years old, they are really making a name for themselves in the business.

Lennon and Maisy Stella are well known for their cover of “Call Your Girlfriend” by Robyn on YouTube and at ages 13 and 8, it was their shot to internet stardom. While they are waiting to set up future collaborations, the girls are keeping busy by staring in ABC’s Nashville and as for their video on YouTube? Well it now has over 20 million views.

Aldrich Lloyd Talonding and his cousin James Walter Bucong were just two talented boys from the Philippines before they posted their rendition of Luther Vandross's “Dance With My Father” on YouTube. Within hours they had garnered thousands of views and have performed on Ellen. Aldrich told Ellen that after he lost his father to cancer, the song has a whole new meaning to him.
All the way from Afghanistan is U.S soldier, Paul Leti with his powerful vocals your jaw will drop. Leti first gained Internet fame in July, when a video of him singing Rihanna's “Stay” went viral. Since then he has covered Etta James' “At Last” and it is simply amazing.

Cimorelli is a girl group made up of 6 sisters from California who are in perfect unison with one another. Christina (22), Katherine (21), Lisa (19), Amy (18), Lauren (14), and Dani (13) began posting videos on YouTube in hopes of being recognized and their plan seemed to work because in 2010 they impressed executives at Universal Records and were signed.

Lastly is 12-year-old Cam Anthony is a power house and his cover of Lorde’s “Royals” has received many views and he definitely has a future in the music industry.

Celebrities like Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen , Gotye, Rebecca Black, and Karmin all began on YouTube. Within two years Karmin has had numerous hits as well as making live appearances on television shows and concerts. Long Island will be able to experience Karmin in an intimate setting like never before. Tickets for Karmin are still on sale and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or visit us at the box office opened daily from 12pm-6pm.

If you are a talented musician, singer, or have other talents post links to your YouTube videos here because you never know whose watching.
