The Best of Black History Month

February is not only the month of cheesy Hallmark cards, boxes of chocolate, and many DIY gifts, but it’s an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans. In honor of Black History Month, we have created a list of African American musicians who have shared their talent and message with us over the years. These artists will always be recognized as icons due to their timeless music, undeniable vocals, and their extraordinary instrumental skills. Here are the top 15 musicians in no specific order who deserve to be acknowledged this month:

  1. Tina Turner
  2. B.B King
  3. Aretha Franklin
  4. Miles Davis
  5. Jimi Hendrix
  6. Michael Jackson
  7. Whitney Houston
  8. Louis Armstrong
  9. Diana Ross
  10. Etta James
  11. Smokey Robinson
  12. Sammy Davis Jr.
  13. Billie Holiday
  14. James Brown
  15. Sam Cooke

There are many others who didn’t make the list, but deserve recognition as well. Last October we were honored to have B.B King perform live on our stage and we’ll continue to bring legends to Huntington; if you have an artist or musician who didn’t make the list and want us to have them here at The Paramount let us know bellow.
