The Paramount’s Most Wanted Comedians

Within the last few months we have hosted and booked some amazing comedians such as Jim Breuer, Whoopi Goldberg, and Bill Cosby. Even though we have landed Hollywood’s funniest comedians we still receive suggestions in our Hit Us Up inbox. We’ve spent some time raking through the emails and pulled out most popular requests. Here are The Paramount’s most wanted comedians:

Lisa Lampanelli has won the name of being called “Comedy's Lovable Queen of Mean.” She is known for using celebrities as targets for her outrageous jokes along with her weight and sexuality. Howard Stern has said, “Lisa will steal the show every time, whether it's on my radio program or on any stage anywhere doing stand-up. I love Lisa and so should you...a true original and a brilliant comedy mind.”

Daniel Tosh has quickly evolved into one of the most popular and successful college acts, performing at more than seven hundred campuses. He is the host of Tosh.0 on Comedy Central where he showcases internet video clips in front of a live audience. Tosh’s latest special, Happy Thoughts, premiered on Comedy Central on March 6, 2011, with 3.25 million viewers and a 1.9/5 share. Tosh is the voice of Malloy in Comedy Central’s animated sitcom, “Brickleberry,” and is also one of the show’s executive producers.

Kathy Griffin is a multi-faceted performer with rapid fire wit along with being a two-time Emmy winner, Grammy-winner, and NY Times bestselling author. In 2013 during a live stand up performance in San Antonio, Texas, Guinness World Records honored Kathy Griffin for logging the most televised stand-up specials by any comedian.

Jeff Dunham uses his extraordinary talent of ventriloquism to make millions of fans laugh each time he hits the stage. Dunham is a phenomenally successful global entertainment brand and has the help from his entourage of signature characters who are there to challenge and chastise his every sentence. Time Magazine wrote that he is “the most popular comedian in the United States” and Forbes named him to its Celebrity 100 list of most powerful entertainers three years running.

The Paramount Goes Hollywood

This past weekend we had actor and comedian Jim Breuer stopped by and performed two sold out shows. Named one of Comedy Central's "100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time," Jim Breuer has been a cast member of SNL and has stared in the movie “Half Baked”. He is just one of the many well-known celebrities who are stopping by Huntington throughout this year. The Paramount plans on brining Hollywood to Long Island and here are the A-listers who are coming soon:

March Madness is in full swing and you better get ready because it's going to be mayhem. Rob Schneider is a veteran on SNL, has stared in hit movies such as “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” “The Hot Chick,” and “Grown-Ups”. He has performed alongside Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Chris Farley, but on March 15^th he will be performing his dangerously funny set solo for one intimate night.

Some call this 2014 the year of Kevin Costner’s comeback, but here at The Paramount we don’t think he ever left. He will be staring in four movies this year including “3 Days to Kill” and “Draft Day” along with touring with the Modern West band. Kevin Costner is well recognized for his role in movies such as “The Bodyguard,” “Field of Dreams,” and “Dances with Wolves,” but many forget that he is also a talented musician. On April 13^th he will be gracing our stage and sharing his love of music with Long Island.

The Paramount Comedy Series presents award-winning comedian, actor, producer, and author Whoopi Goldberg on Saturday, April 26. Whoopi has starred in films such as “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” “A Little Bit of Heaven,” and “Sister Act.” Whoopi most recently had recurring roles on ABC’s “666 Park Avenue,” and in the FOX comedy series “Glee.” She currently appears on ABC’s Emmy Award winning “The View,” for which she has won a Daytime Emmy Award. Whoopi’s consistent interaction with the audience and authentic spirit will make this intimate evening an unforgettable experience.

One of America’s most beloved comedians of all time, Bill Cosby has captivated generations of fans with his comedy routines, iconic albums and best-selling books such as Fatherhood.  On October 18^th he will performing two back-to-back shows starting at 5:30 pm. He created and produced the Emmy-winning cartoon “Fat Albert” and the “Cosby Kids,” which began airing in the 1970s and was made into a film in 2004. Cosby broke television’s racial barrier with I Spy, becoming the first African American to costar on a television series while winning three consecutive Emmys. His comedy transcends age, gender and cultural barriers.

The Paramount Continues To Party

Mardi Gras, French for Fat Tuesday, might have ended yesterday, but that doesn’t stop The Paramount from continuing to party. Rock icon, Robert Cray is bringing his Southern flare to Huntington on March 25^th. With 5 Grammy Awards, 15 nominations, millions of record sales worldwide, and thousands of sold out performances, Cray is considered “one of the greatest guitarists of his generation.”

He has written and performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker. Creating hits such as “Smoking Gun,” Right Next Door,” and “Bouncin’ Back” has earned him to be inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the age of 57; he is one of the youngest living legends to receive the prestigious honor.

So before you finish your last piece of King Cake and throw away all of those colorful beads make sure to stop by The Paramount to witness the legend that is Robert Cray. The Paramount’s Do’s and Don’ts of Concert Going

When people find out that I work at The Paramount they usually ask me these three questions: What artists have you met? None yet. Can you get me FREE tickets? No I cannot. What is the craziest thing you’ve seen? There is a long list of crazy things I (along with my coworkers) have seen. To help answer that question we made a list of do’s and don’ts of attending a live show.

Let’s start with the don’ts.

1. Live in the moment; don’t watch the concert through your cell phone.
2. No one likes a sloppy mess. Don’t pregame to hard, there are bars at the venue and if you are paying to see a concert you might want to remember it.
3. Please don’t lip sync if you don’t know the lyrics everyone can tell
4. Stop with the selfies. We know our bathrooms are the perfect backdrop to your selfies, but please refrain yourselves …some people actually want to wash their hands.
5. Don’t wear the bands concert-tee at the concert (especially if you don’t know the band)
6. Don’t wear anything your mother wouldn’t approve of. Wear something age and weather appropriate.
7. When you see people crowd surfing fight the urge to take off their shoe. This has happened to someone who works here and luckily she retrieved her shoe at the end of the night.

Now that you know what you shouldn’t do you’re probably wondering what you can do…

1. Respect others while dancing. We get you love to dance and the music takes over your body, but make sure you don’t smack someone in the face with your limbs and spill your drink on them.
2. Pay attention to those around you. If you are tall make sure you’re not blocking those who are vertically challenged. You can see over their heads they can’t see over yours. I know it’s not your fault for being tall and you want a good spot too, but can’t we compromise?
3. Tip your bartenders. They work hard to ensure everyone gets served quickly and they deserve a good tip.
4. Water is good for you. Stay Hydrated throughout the night and for every alcoholic drink have some water.
5. Come with a designated driver. There are cops all over Huntington and we want concert goers to have fun but get home safely. If you don’t come with a DD we can call a cab for you.
6. Wear comfortable shoes. You will be standing on your feet all night and taking off your shoes is just gross.
7. The early bird gets the worm. So get here early to ensure you get a great spot next to the stage.
