Boy Bands of Today

Out with the old and in with the new… boy bands that is. *NSync, Backstreet Boys, LFO, Hanson, 98 degrees, and 112 are long gone. The hopes of *NSync reuniting have been crushed and although Backstreet Boys went on tour recently their younger days are behind them. We now welcome a new generation of boy bands with great hair and a metro style. Here are the boy bands that are making young girls scream in 2013:

One Direction became a hit with the help of the biggest television show in the UK, The X Factor. Their Debut album, Up All Night: No.1 in 15 countries making them the first UK group to hit at No. 1 in USA. One Direction has over 5 million Facebook fans and 3 million followers on Twitter and they have become a global phenomenon.

The Wanted, best known for their single, “Glad You Came” graced the Paramount stage in March 2012. After reaching number one in the UK they came to America in late 2011 and we are glad they came. The Wanted is coming back to The Paramount on April 4th making it their 2nd time visiting Huntington.

In 2012, Emblem 3 failed to make the finals of X Factor, but having amassed 15 million YouTube views and an international fan base, they were clearly the show’s breakout band. The trio will be performing at The Paramount on February 26th.

Although the Jonas Brothers decided to split in early October due to creative differences, they have remained loyal to their fans and are “going to release four of the unreleased songs from the album,” Kevin said. “And we put together the live tracks from the last summer tour – about 10 songs as well – so we’ll be giving that to our fans club members, as a gift from us.” Just last year Joe Jonas has visited us at The Paramount when he came out to judge the hit television show The Next.

Big Time Rush originally started as a television series on Nickelodeon in 2009, but soon signed to Columbia/Epic Label Group where their first official single, "Boyfriend" peaked at number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100. As of November 2013 Big Time Rush have sold more than 20 million records Worldwide.

Mindless Behavior’s first single "My Girl" in 2010 garnered almost at 14 million views on YouTube, and was nominated for a 2011 "Viewer's Choice" BET Award. Their follow-up, "Mrs. Right", landed at #1 on BET's 106 and Park three weeks in a row. The track's music video even features cameos from Mike Epps, LL Cool J, and Diggy Simmons, quickly becoming the #1 most demanded video on Music Choice.

So whether you grew up listening to The Beatles, New Kids on The Block, Menudo, or Boyz II Men just know that boy bands will never go extinct. A new generation of girls will fall in love (the same way you did) with a boy-bander who has a smile like Nick Carter, body like Marc Wahlberg, and voice like Justin Timberlake.
