Before music heavy weights hit the stage of The Paramount
they were featured on the cover of America’s top music magazine. Over 12
million young Americans turn to Rolling
Stone Magazine to get the scoop on upcoming tours, intimate interviews with
artists, and a backstage pass as to what goes on off stage. After years of
delivering compelling stories and some controversy along the way, Rolling Stone Magazine continues to
highlight leading performers. Here are some artists who made the cover before lighting
up The Paramount stage:
Karmin was the winner of Rolling Stone’s Woman Who Rock
contest in September 2012 and will be performing live at The Paramount on
February 1st. In 2011, Karmin instantly caught the attention of
hip-hop heavy hitters when they posted a cover of Chris Brown’s “Look at Me
Now” on YouTube. The video went viral, racking up millions of views after being
Tweeted by producers Diplo and Jermaine Dupree, and rapper The Game. After
endless covers posted on their YouTube Channel “Karmin covers”, Karmin was
ready to perform their own original music for their fans. Tickets to their
upcoming show are available for purchase through Ticketmaster.com,
charge-by-phone @ 800-745-3000 or The Paramount Box Office (open daily from 12
noon - 6 pm).
Taylor Momsen graced the cover of the Mexico Rolling Stone
in June 2013 just months before she performed at The Paramount with her band
The Pretty Reckless. Momsen, lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, started her
career in the entertainment business at a young age. At two years old, Momsen
signed to a modeling agency and a year later she appeared in commercials and
films. In 2007, Momsen became a household name when she was casted as Jenny
Humphrey in the CW’s Gossip Girl. When Gossip Girl finished taping in 2012 and
no one pictured the blonde beauty to be a rock-n-roll chick.
Billy Joel was viewed on the cover in 1980, 1982, 1986, and
1990 before he made a surprise performance at The Paramount this past October. Lauryn
Hill, who will be performing on the 26th of this month, made the
cover in February of 1999. Boz Scaggs was also featured on the cover in
February years prior in 1977 and will be performing on May 13th.
Other artists who have made the covers of Rolling
Stone Magazine include Dana Carvey who appeared on the cover in March of
1993, Weezer posed for the cover back in 2005’s May issue, Snoop Dogg had a
“smokin’ Christmas” back in 2006 on the December issue and Pitbull was seen on
the November 2012 issue just a year after performing at The Paramount.
