Paramount’s Breakout Stars

Before they became stars selling out large arenas across the country and having thousands of Facebook and Twitter followers, they graced the stage of the Paramount. 2012 was the year of the soon-to-be stars at The Paramount. Here are some of the artists who have taken The Paramount stage by storm.

 Almost a year ago, Icona Pop opened for Marina & the Diamonds. They have now gone from opening act to headliners. Icona Pop are a Swedish DJ duo who formed and signed with Ten Music Group in 2009, with electro house, punk and indie pop music influences. The two members Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo who grew up in Stockholm, described their music as "classical pop melodies with drums and synths". Their biggest hit has been "I Love It", written by Patrik Berger, Linus Eklöw and Charlotte Aitchison. Icona Pop will continue touring this summer; make sure to check out their tour dates to find a show near you.

A year after Robin Thicke performed at the Paramount he has reached number one on the Billboard. Thicke began playing the piano at the age of 12 and shortly thereafter started composing music. He later wrote songs for Christina Aguilera, Mary J Blige and Pink. Already his 2006 album ‘The Evolution of Robin Thicke’ showed what he could do. His hit single “Blurred Lines” featuring T.I and Pharrell is heating up this summer.  Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” featuring Thicke is also burning up this summer’s charts. Whatever track Thicke is on its sure to be a hit!  

   

The Wanted, best known for their single, “Glad You Came” graced the Paramount stage in March 2012. The members of the band include Nathan Sykes, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker and Jay McGuiness. After reaching number one in the UK they came to America in late 2011 and we are glad they came. Not only are they headlining sold out shows across the world, but they even have time to film a reality television show called “The Wanted Life” airing every Sunday on E!

Before American Authors performed at the Paramount on multiple occasions, they attended Berkeley College of Music in 2006. The Brooklyn based boy band spent their first years in Boston recording and performing music under the name ‘The Blue Pages’ and recorded Anthropology. In 2012, the group changed their name to American Authors. Their second single, "Best Day of My Life," has brought them the attention they deserve. Their single was featured in a Lowe's television advertisement, the Hyundai television advertisement in the UK, and a trailer for the 2013 comedy Delivery Man starring Vince Vaughn. In January 2013, American Authors signed to Mercury Records.

The Paramount welcomes all upcoming artists to the stage. Icona Pop, Robin Thicke, The Wanted, and American Authors are just some of the bands that made it big after visiting the Paramount. Visit the Paramount to eat, drink, and enjoy the music of up and coming artists. So when they make it big, you can say you saw them first at the Paramount!
