Nearly 20 years ago, Hanson changed the sound of the music
industry with their hit single “MMMBop” that sold over 12 million copies. Now Isaac,
Taylor and Zac, ages 32, 30 and 27, are not the long-haired boys the world
remembers. They each are married with children of their own and have grown as
musicians while staying true to their origins.
In 2003 Hanson split from Island Def Jam and started an
independent label called 3CG Records. They produced a documentary called “Strong
Enough to Break.” The film was about their struggle with the recording industry
and the road to becoming pioneering independent artists. The documentary was
shown at the Hollywood Film Festival in October 2006.
Their ninth studio album entitled ‘Anthem’ was released in
June. To celebrate the third decade of making music together, Hanson partnered
with craft beer company, Mustang Brewing, to create MMMHops beer. MMMHops made
its premier at the Hangover 3 after party and rightly so since “MMMBop” is
played in the movie. The beer will not be available to the public until later
this fall while the band is on tour. However, the brothers have released
Mmmhops-related merchandise on their website. The proceeds from the MmmHops
merchandise will be donated to the Red Cross to aid in the Oklahoma tornado
relief efforts.
Never let fame influence them, they continue to remain close
to one another. Isaac told NPR, “There is no question that we have evolved as a band. We're inevitably tight
— if nothing else, it's our 16 years of practicing together. But all of it is
still coming from the same place, whether I'm 16 or 32. I just want to write a
great lyric and a great song — everything else is icing on the cake.”
Hanson will bring their Anthem World Tour to the Paramount on September 1! Buy your tickets now, visit the box office or purchase them on Ticketmaster.
