Saturday night millions gathered around the TV for the highly anticipated fight. At the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas is where the fight between Floyd “Money" Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez took place. After an intense fight, two judges gave the win to Mayweather by 9-3 and 8-4 scores in rounds, while the third saw it 6-6. “I didn't know how to get him, it's extremely simple,” Alvarez said. “He's a great fighter, very intelligent. The frustration was getting in there, but he's a great fighter. We tried to catch him.” Mayweather remains undefeated.
Beyoncé was also in a fight…for her safety that is. While
performing at the Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday, Beyoncé was pulled off stage by an
aggressive fan. A security guard immediately ran up on stage and pulled her
back up. After singing “Irreplaceable,” Beyoncé told the crazed fan, “It's all
right. Thank you, I love you, too.”
Earlier Sunday morning Britney Spears tweeted, “Woke up
today and saw that a low quality version of Work Bitch had leaked.” Spear’s new
single “Work Bitch”
was leaked a day early. The song was
scheduled to hit the radio at 6 p.m. on September 16th, but due to the leak
Spears pushed the official debut up to Sunday afternoon.
Rounding off this eventful weekend, Nina Daveluri was
crowned Miss America. Daveluri is the second consecutive New York beauty queen
to take the Miss America title, as well as being the first Indian-American to
win the crown. “I was the first Indian Miss New York, and I'm so proud to be the
first Indian Miss America,” Davuluri said after she won. The 24-year-old
Fayetteville, New York, native studied at the University of Michigan, where she
graduated with a degree in brain behavior and cognitive science. She also is
passionate about healthy lifestyles and would like to become a physician one
day.
