The Paramount is the premier music venue on Long Island. We
have had big headliners such as Pitbull, Don Henley, Counting Crows, Willie
Nelson, and Limp Bizkit, but it’s the opening acts that we often overlook. The
Paramount has always supported local bands and will always be looking for
upcoming artists on the island. Here are some of the local bands that graced
the stage of The Paramount and got the audience hyped for an amazing show.
Jake Incao
recently opened for Pat Benatar in August. He is originally from the Long
Island/ New York City area and has recently formed the band, Jake Incao & the
Common Thieves. They frequently perform at New York City venues such as The Bitter
End, Ace of Clubs and Bowery Poetry Club. “My Sweet Summer” and the acoustic
track, “Dizzy” are two of his licensed songs through SONY BMG. “As long as there is life, I can write,” said
Jake Incao.
Dangerous Muse opened
for Andy Bell and Howard Jones in August as well. Dangerous Muse is an
electronic rock project based in New York City, led by songwriter and vocalist,
Mike Furey. Their debut three-song
digital EP landed at #2 on iTunes dance charts. A music video for the lead
single aired on MTV/LOGO and, in its second week, went to #1 on the countdown. Their
talent and success have caught the attention of the New York Daily News who
gave them the title of “Year End Ones to Watch.” Washington Post said, “Dangerous
Muse is part of a new generation of download-only artists making their names
over broadband connections instead of radio waves.”
The Scofflaws helped
get the crowd excited for The Specials. The Scofflaws are a Huntington, Long
Island, New York-based Ska band that debuted in 1988. The Scofflaws early sound
was under the influence of R&B, jazz, and eclectic covers like
“Ska-La-Carte”, “Nude Beach” and “William Shatner.” Today The Scofflaws are
best known for their rambunctious live shows, technically proficient horn solos
and tight arrangements.
Other local bands include Liza Colby Sound who opened for
the Psychedelic Furs and Born Cages who recently opened for Pretty Reckless
last weekend. The Paramount is always looking for talent on Long Island. If you
have a band you’d like to see perform at The Paramount hit us up on our website!
