Andrew McMahon Spring Solo Tour

On October 12, 2011, Jack’s Mannequin performed at The Paramount, one of the first shows the venue hosted after its opening in September.  While this was not my first time seeing Jack’s Mannequin, it was my first time visiting the Paramount.  Since then, Andrew McMahon has dropped the “Jack’s Mannequin” moniker in favor of simply touring under his name, playing songs from both of his previous bands, Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate, as well as some new material.  Most recently, he did a short run with breakthrough artist Fun. and is about to start a national tour on his own, when he’ll be returning to the Paramount on April 13!  For those who don’t know much about Andrew McMahon, he has quite an inspiring history.  While taking a break from working with Something Corporate to work on material for Jack’s Mannequin, he was diagnosed with leukemia.  He was forced to cancel all of his upcoming tour dates and Jack’s Mannequin’s debut album, Everything In Transit was released while he was in the hospital.  After rigorous treatment, including a stem cell transplant from his sister, he made a full recovery.  He founded a non-profit charity for cancer research named the Dear Jack foundation in 2006 and in 2009 a documentary was released entitled Dear Jack chronicling his battle with leukemia and the beginnings of Jack’s Mannequin.  He released three full-length albums with Jack’s Mannequin before deciding to retire the name.  I can’t wait to see him again – and I’m especially hoping to hear him play some of Something Corporate’s older songs and what direction his new music is taking him in!

Check out this video of a new Andrew McMahon he performed at his first show as a solo artist!
